Come and visit me at the Hatfield House wedding show on 24th March 2019. Find out more about this ancient stately home below...
The handsome jacobean Hatfield House and garden was built in 1611 by Robert Cecil, the 1st Earl of Salisbury. Impressively its been in the ownership of the Cecil family ever since and is currently the home of the 7th Marquess
Hatfield House's film credits are impressive and it was latterly used in the 2018 film 'The Favourite' in which Olivia Colman played the mysterious Queen Anne. It also featured in the 2017 film 'All the Money in the World' and the TV series 'Trust' to represent the home of J.Paul Getty, who actually lived in a 16th century mansion called 'Sutton Place'
The 42 acre gardens were laid out by John Tradescant the Elder, who is famous in gardening history for visiting Europe and bringing back trees and plants, previously unknown in the UK but now firm favourites in british gardens. During WW1 the grounds were used to test the first british tanks
During WW2 the house was home to the first Civil Resettlement Unit. These units were set up to help repatriated british prisoners of war to acclimatise back into civvy street and the beautiful environment was thought to be very beneficial for this. Check it out for yourself on 24th March, the house is open as are the grounds and I would love to see you
