Hello guest
Your basket is empty
The spaghetti strap wedding dress is quite a bold choice but brilliant bridal wear for beach weddings
Not if you're a royal bride of course, as the Queen is not keen on bare shoulders. But for those of us marrying on exotic sandy shores the spaghetti strap is very much on the menu
A gorgeous example of the simplicity of the spaghetti strap was Cindy Crawford's bridal gown when she married on Paradise Island in the Bahamas in 1998
Cindy wore a mini length slip dress (think lingerie style) with a lace hem, loose hair and bare feet. But with such fabulous legs why not? I like the idea of this sort of informality and the groom did too. He wore an informal loose shirt and trousers, also sporting bare feet
Keeping with the theme of supermodels another version of the spaghetti strap was worn by Lara Stone in 2010. Lara married David Walliams at Claridges and, in keeping with the Claridges style, it was a rather grander affair. Lara wore a corseted silk satin wedding dress. It had encrusted lace and gold chain-trimmed straps and was created by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy
So, if you were envisioning a wedding by the sea, where would it be? What would your wedding dress be like? Well, I'm thinking the soft white sands of the Maldives. The bride is a vision in an ivory bridal gown made in the softest crepe backed satin. This wedding dress would be column style and bias cut. It clings where it should and not where it shouldn't. This bridal gown is backless with spaghetti straps twinkling in diamante and pearls. Got the picture? Now get the dress! Bespoke bridal wear from Lychgate is available at the touch of a button
My video also touches on the cowl neck wedding dress. This is a really lovely style as it drapes across the neck and chest. It actually goes well with spaghetti straps for brides who don't want too much exposure. The best example of this is Pippa Middleton's bridesmaids dress. Yes, that dress, Mixed opinions amongst the public I think about whether she upstaged the bride. But here at Lychgate I loved Kate's wedding dress and nothing could beat her simple beauty
Pippa's bridesmaids dress was made of ivory satin crepe (see I told you it was a fabulous silk fabric) with an elegant lace trim. It was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and had 58 gazar and organza covered buttons. Of course these rather emphasized her you know what, eek! This bridesmaids dress cleverly used a cowl neck with sleeves (the Queen again) and presented a modest decolletage. It was made bespoke of course. Yours could be too with a bespoke bridal gown from Lychgate
