Hello guest

A big shout out to all concerned with creating the wonderful costumes for Disney's new film 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms'. Costume designer Jenny Beavan and multiple Oscar nominee and two-time winner, production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas, had principal responsibility.
Jenny Beavan says that she tried to imbue Clara's clothes with a note of reality, reflecting the era in which the film is set, whilst also showing Clara's talents in creating and inventing. Apparently Clara's colours were kept simple and muted to reflect her practical nature, but also, perhaps to reflect her grief at the loss of her mother. Beavan says that she worked with a variety of textiles, including some that were 'plasticky' and much glitter and glue. Who wouldn't want to be covered in glitter, especially at Christmas!
Disney chose a draped skirt for Clara's party dress, an elegant, vintage style, reflected in Lychgate's own bridal gown made out of gorgeous poppy silk dupion fabric, made in 2014.
