The Marquess of Blandford, future 13th Duke of Marlborough married Camilla Thorp, now Marchioness Blandford, in stylish form at Blenheim Palace recently.....
Once again a long veil and gorgeous tiara featured. The bride wore a D&G off-the-shoulder lace bodice and organza and lace skirt. The whole outfit was very ornate and perhaps this heralds a return to more ornate bridalwear. Are we seeing the start of another new trend? This is the third society wedding this year to feature a fabulous tiara. HM the Queen was the kind lender of two of them but the Marchioness's tiara was originally worn by the Heiress Consuelo Vanderbilt. Consuelo married the 9th Duke in New York in 1895. Her marriage was said to be socially advantageous but loveless, common in what was known as the 'Gilded Age'. We sincerely hope that the Marchioness will have more luck than Consuelo and enjoy many years of happy and peaceful marriage.
